  2. The point of the A2 boot camp was so we can get used to what the MCAS asks us for and so we can be prepared. It probably was effective I won't know for sure until I Take the actual test. It probably was because it probably was to help us learn that you don't have to stress out on the test just relax. It got me so annoyed though I felt like ripping the skin off my face n blowing up my head after a while but my guess is it was to help us feel like we don't have to do that (and if it was it didn't work).

  3. The point of MCAS boot camp is so we (students) can be prepared for the MCAS. It was effective because I improved on my reading skills. The MCAS boot camp helped us pay more attention. Now if we take the MCAS we will be better and more focused. When we just took the MCAS we got horrible grades. So the teachers started MCAS boot camp to get our grade higher. Their method worked because some kids can read more faster. That is the point of MCAS boot camp.

  4. Evan and Chris are right. That was definitely the point of boot camp. Evan's statement is very true, we won't know how effective it was until it's MCAS time...

  5. The point of academy 2 boot camp was to prepare us well for MCAS .It teaches us to always read directions even though its seems simple .It is effective because now I know to read the directions. I am aware of the challenges MCAS brings. This is effective and useful at the same time .

  6. Boot camp in Academy Two was helpful and then not so helpful. It helped some because it helped us prepare to be siting in quiet. Another thing it helped with was reading the questions first and understanding the passage. It didn't help when we first started and we had to go out into the all way and stand up. When we went to Literacy it didn't help because we got to confused with the directions. The boot camp was effective it helped us with the directions. Another way it helped was when we had to answer the open response question it will prepare us for the MCAS ad we will know how many sentences to type.

  7. The point of academy two teachers doing MCAS boot camp was to prepare us the students for the MCAS. They know that we can do better than what we do and they are just trying to prove to us that we can. It actually was effective for me because I learned that I could read the questions before I read the excerpt. I also learned that I really do have to read the directions. Even though we don’t like taking the MCAS we have to take it. I have had teachers tell me in the past that you don’t need to pass the MCAS to pass and its like now that I do it’s a little harder for me. I really don’t like taking the MCAS I really don’t and I still have to take it so I feel as though the MCAS boot camp really helped me.

  8. The point of Academy 2 Teachers doing the MCAS Boot Camp is to prepare the students for MCAS. Another point is to make sure the students read the directions and see what they have to do. It wasn't effective because to me at first because I really don't like MCAS. Then, when the teachers kept doing the Boot Camp, I kind of the hang of it. Now, it's like I am somewhat prepare for the MCAS and Not prepare. The reason why I'm not prepare is because I might see somethings that I haven't seen before, and I might just get overwhelmed. The reason why I'm prepare it's because I feel like I know what's going to be on the MCAS.

  9. The point of the Academy Two Teachers doing MCAS boot camp, was to make us better at doing the MCAS. Another reason the Teachers are doing MCAS boot camp is because they wanted to let us know that MCAS was right around the corner and they wanted to prepare us for it. MCAS boot camp is preparing us for the next level, its showing us that everything isn't going to be easy and we have to put are knowledge to the test. The MCAS boot camp was effective only because it showed us how important it was. The MCAS boot camp kind of made every anger because we did it out of the blue everyday, now we realized what we were doing it for. Maybe if we didn't do MCAS boot camp some of us would most likely be stuck on many things.

  10. Bianca, Ashley and Dernice are all brilliant. Your answers are perfect. I agree that we fumbled a little bit with the beginning and I'm sure we'll do better next year but it sounds like you guys got the point!

  11. Basically the point of them doing the MCAS boot camp was to show us that the MCAS is very serious . They wanted us to know that when doing MCAS its very important to do and read certain things and do certain things because MCAS is following you in till the 10th grade. It was and wasn't effective. It was effective because us as students don't want to have to be doing all the test and reading even though we know its good for us, but we feel like its enough doing it once. It also wasn't because we need the help, and we need to do it as much as we need to get better at reading and writing so when MCAS comes we know what we need to accomplish.

  12. The point of this whole MCAS boot camp was so students can get prepared and so they practice a little more so when the real MCAS packet come, we wont be lost and confused about it. It was effective because I learned how to write a full open response and practiced on how to write a whole summary about one little topic. I also improved in my reading. Witch helped a lot because I was not in the right reading level before.

  13. I think MCAS boot camp was at the same time helpful and non-helpful. MCAS boot camp was helpful because it was a way to get us to the zenith of reading directions. We really needed boot camp for the directions because some students wouldn't read the directions. If you don't read the directions you won't actually know what to do. The other way why it wasn't helpful was because some of the 8th grade students and I think that MCAS boot camp was a little childish. I think it started to be fun at the beginning then just got more boring towards the end.

  14. The point of Academy Two teachers doing the MCAS boot camp is to show the students how important the MCAS is. Students don't take the test as serious at it should be taken so the teachers tried to teach us to be serious about this test. To take it as if your whole life depended on it. The MCAS boot camp was not really effective on me. Its obvious that the test should be take seriously and not for a joke. It was exactly hilarious seeing the teachers dress in army uniform and try to act tough. It did effect me a little because it had gotten me prepared for the MCAS and start to think about it a little more. The point of the teachers doing the MCAS bot camp was to get into the "spirit" of the MCAS and get us prepared for a very important test.

  15. The point of the Academy doing the MCAS boot camp was for A2 to improve. We were reflecting on skills that we needed in preparation for the test. Things we did not focus on before, we are learning to pay more attention. This way we are more aware of what is being asked and what we need to do. This boot camp is actually way more effective,we are seeing and preparing for what is to come. Even though doing this constantly was annoying it was helpful. It will definitely improve scores this time around.

  16. The point for us doing the MCAS Boot Camp is basically like training. We have t get used to doing things we don't like. Trust me I should know. When we do finally get the real MCAS we just might zip through it. Yes it was affective because now that we know what were in for the test is going to be very breezy. Easy to get by.
To be truthful I can say that when we first started I didn't think that I was going to be able to get through it but in the end I know that its all going to be helpful.

  17. Very good Michelle, Jorgina, Kwame (except for I think) and Natae! Wow, your answers are on the money. It sounds like you found it frustrating and it would be better next year if we let the kids know in advance about the boot camp and the purpose.

  18. The point of the MCAS boot camp was for all of the students to understand more about whats on the MCAS and whats its all about. MCAS is a very hard test so it is probably gonna to help us when we take the real test. Also the teachers in A2 did the boot camp so we can get better grades. Another point was to help us with our reading and writing. It was effective because it helps on reading skills and skills that we need to use when answering the question. It also is a good way to show that MCAS is coming and that we should just relax. Now when we are taking the MCAS we might have a better chance of passing and we will be relaxed. That was the point of the MCAS boot camp.

  19. The point of doing the Macs boot camp was so we can be prepared. It was effective because it helped me on stuff that I was not that good at. I have gotten better at doing open responses. It thought us how to read directions and doing open responses. It looked very simple like the first page of “reading directions,” it told you not to do that page. But most people did not read them. So that thought us you should read all of the directions before you start. The part that was hard for me and I did not do a good job on is the open responses. I did not do a good job because I am not that good of a writer.

  20. Brandon, Jaleea and Malika gave insightful answers. I'm glad that you could get some humor out of it. Mostly, I'm glad that you got the point that it should be taken seriously and the more you do it the better you get at it.

  21. The point of MCAS Boot camp was to get ready for the MCAS. It’s right in the title MCAS Boot camp. We weren’t following directions; so one of the reasons was part of it to get us to follow directions. Another reason is that we don’t read the directions that the MCAS gives us. That was another point of the MCAS. Another point was to get us to feel like we can do it even if people may be distracting. I learned that I could do it if I just stay calm. Also, to get us comfortable with the MCAS.

  22. The point of the MCAS boot camp is suppose to prepare us for what is going to be on the MCAS. It was effective because I learned tricks I can use while reading the excerpt. For example reading the questions and look for them while reading. But the most important thing I learned from the boot camp was how to read directions even if they were simple or complex. It helped me understand what they are asking for better. I feel more confident and prepared about taking the MCAS now.

  23. Very interesting insight Melissa and Hamza. Open response is something we will continue to work on in order to get better at.
